Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to read this site, use it with a keyboard or a screen reader, and get in touch with us, whatever their ability or the device in their hand. This page says what we do about that, where we know we fall short, and how to tell us when something is in your way.
The standard we work to
shopandtable.com is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the level referenced by most accessibility law and guidance in the United States. We treat that as an ongoing obligation, not a one-time project.
What we do
- Every page of this site is scanned with axe-core, the open-source WCAG rules engine, after each change and on a schedule. What it finds is fixed in the code of the page, not covered by an overlay or a toolbar.
- We check the primary paths by hand: reading a page, opening the menu, running the free audit, requesting a call and sending an inquiry, using a keyboard alone and using a screen reader.
- Text and background colors are chosen to meet the contrast ratios WCAG asks for. Headings are in order, links and buttons say where they go, images that carry meaning have descriptions, and form fields have labels and clear error messages.
- Nothing you need to read depends on an animation finishing. If your device asks for reduced motion, the site honors it.
- The site works at 200% zoom and on a phone-width screen without sideways scrolling.
What we know still needs work
- Some parts of the site are provided by other companies and rendered inside our pages: the booking calendar on the discovery-call page, the policy texts on our legal pages, and the "confirm you are a person" check on the free audit. We choose vendors that publish their own accessibility conformance and we pass problems on to them, but we cannot change their code directly.
- Automated scanning finds many barriers but not all of them. Anything a scan cannot judge, like whether an image description is useful or a page makes sense read aloud, depends on our checks and on people telling us.
Tell us if something is in your way
If any part of this site is hard to use, or you would like something in another format, tell us. Email hello@shopandtable.com or call (475) 445-3221 and say which page and what happened. A person reads every message, and we will work with you to get you what you came for while we fix the page.
For the businesses we work with
The same checks are part of every site we build and every managed plan: scheduled scans, an accessibility statement like this one, and fixes made in the page itself. That is monitoring and engineering, not legal advice, a certification, or a guarantee against claims.
